Lake Erie Classics was founded by Shawn R.Gangemi and Phil Palmer in 1999 to pay tribute to Louie Straightwell who passed away in 1999.Some of you may remember that Louie drove the "Grim Reaper".In 1999 the club was known as the Lake Erie Car,Truck and Bike Hobbyists. In 2001 the name was changed to Lake Erie Classics. The name may have changed, but we are still a family based non-profit car club.
In 2007 we held 18 Cruise the Bay cruise-ins which were funded by 18 different sponsors - with no cost to the club or to those who came. We were also involved with several other cruises which raised monies for the Pets Mart Adopt-A-Pet fund and Anchor Inn Brain Injury Facility.
Non operative funds raised by the club are donated to various charities including the Erie City Mission.
